Experienced media consultant, public relations strategist and digital communications professional, Adedayo Showemimo, has joined Cardinal Broadcasting Limited (CBL), operators of City 105.1 FM and the newly launched 93.5 AREA FM in Lagos, as Head of Digital and Events.
The appointment sees Showemimo take on a strategic leadership role within the broadcasting group, where he will oversee digital communications, content development, social media strategy, brand visibility, event management and audience engagement initiatives across the company’s platforms.
With over a decade of experience spanning journalism, public relations, entertainment, digital media and corporate communications, Showemimo brings a wealth of industry knowledge and an extensive network of relationships across Nigeria’s media, entertainment and creative sectors.
Before joining Cardinal Broadcasting Limited, he built an impressive career working with several leading media organisations, including THISDAY Newspapers, City People Magazine, TheNETng, Linda Ikeji Media and Opera News Nigeria, where he served as a Team Lead in Content Management.
His professional journey has also seen him transition from traditional journalism into strategic communications, digital brand management, entertainment publicity and event production, establishing himself as a versatile media professional with experience across multiple sectors.
As a media consultant, Showemimo has worked with several prominent personalities, entertainers and organisations, managing publicity campaigns, media relations, brand positioning and strategic communications.
His portfolio includes working as a media consultant to Nigerian singer Korede Bello and serving as Project Manager at Eric Many Entertainment, where he contributed to artist management, publicity and entertainment projects.
He has also been involved in major cultural, corporate and entertainment initiatives, including the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD), where he served as Media Team Manager for its Lagos activities, as well as the Meet Africa Fashion Festival (MAFEST), where he has contributed to media strategy and publicity.
In his new role at Cardinal Broadcasting Limited, Showemimo will be responsible for strengthening the digital identities of City FM and AREA FM, developing innovative content strategies, expanding audience engagement across social media platforms and creating opportunities for strategic partnerships, events and brand activations.
The appointment comes at a significant period for Cardinal Broadcasting Limited, following the official launch of 93.5 AREA FM on September 30, 2026.
The new station, which operates alongside the established City 105.1 FM, was created to reflect the language, lifestyle, culture and everyday experiences of Lagos residents, with a strong emphasis on relatable programming, entertainment and audience participation.
