Nelly Monday, 53, was arrested in Meiran on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, for dumping in drains during the rain and has been convicted of the offence.
She appeared before the Magistrate Court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi, where she pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one month in prison.
LAWMA warns residents against indiscriminate waste disposal, especially dumping refuse in drainage channels and other unauthorized locations, as such acts are environmental offences punishable under the law.
The Authority will continue to collaborate with relevant enforcement agencies to identify and penalize environmental offenders across Lagos.
Residents are encouraged to dispose of their waste responsibly and through approved channels.
